eReceipt Design
Lowe’s decided there was going to be an effort to target the pro consumer. A big ask from the pro was e-receipts for easily tracking expenses. It was our job to take a traditional “skinny” receipt and transform it into a receipt that would work on both mobile and desktop devices. We started by doing a competitive analysis. This meant hitting the streets and buying stuff so we could get e-receipts from our competitors.
After our research, I laid out what a customer would see on their credit card PED vs what the associate would see on their screen. Our MVP was for the customer to enter their email address every time, with the second drop including a tied to tender option. In order to display to stakeholders who would see what when, I used swim lanes.
At this point, the rest of my team was brought in. My designer and content strategist worked with our dev team to map out our skinny receipt components (all 40 of them!) to what would become our e-receipt. We combed through to try and trim any components we don’t need and then designed mockups for what the receipt would look like.
